Welcome everyone to the first edition of Wii Hacker! This is a new addition to the Dream League Netzine. In this section I will teach you how to install emulators and homebrew applications on your Wii system. I have tested everything myself and have done it on my own Wii.

First of all you may ask what is homebrew? The Homebrew Channel is a self-updating homebrew application loader by Team Twiizers which allows users to load homebrew applications without having to run an exploit every time. Once installed, users can access the channel from the Wii System Menu just like any other Wii channel. It can launch or install homebrew applications from an SD or SDHC card or via TCP/USB Gecko using Wiiload.

This is the best way I found to install the Homebrew Channel by way of BannerBomb.

Bannerbomb is an exploit capable of launching homebrew from any version of the System Menu. It was created by Comex to replace the Twilight Hack, which does not work on System Menu 4.0.
It depends on your Wii's firmware what version of Bannerbomb you will need.
- If you have 4.2 you will need version 2 which can be downloaded by clicking this link
- If you have 4.1 or older you will need version 1 which can be downloaded by clicking this link

What you need:
* SD (or SDHC, only on System Menu 4.0 or higher) card formatted as FAT16 or FAT32.
* SD card reader for PC or a PC with one built-in
* Bannerbomb channel data on your SD Card
* Some homebrew to load (Recommended, the HackMii Installer) Download HackMii

Guide
1.
If your SD card has a private directory with saved channels, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up. (You can skip this step if you don't have any channels on the SD card. Saves are fine.)
2. Copy the Bannerbomb "private" folder to the root of your SD card.
3. Go download the HackMii installer. Copy installer.elf to the root of the SD card, and rename it to boot.elf.
4. Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
5. This step varies depending on your version:
* For Bannerbomb v1: Go into Wii Options --> Data Management --> Channels --> SD Card.
* For Bannerbomb v2: Go to the SD Card Menu on the main System Menu screen
6. A message should appear asking to "load boot.dol/.elf". If it freezes or does not appear, download the next .zip file from the Bannerbomb website and start over.
7. The homebrew on your SD card will load. Enjoy!

You can install the Homebrew Channel using the HackMii installer that will open up on your screen click it to install.

Now that we have Homebrew installed hows about we install an emulator?

This months emulator is NES!
FCE Ultra GX is a port of FCE Ultra. With it you can play NES games on your Wii!

You can copy the fceugx directory from the archive to your support drive.
* Launch the emulator using your Loader on the Homebrew Channel.
* you can hold your Wiimote sideways and use it as a classic NES controller! 2 is A. 1 is B. - is Select + is Start. Pressing the home button while in game will bring up the emulator menu. You can also use the Gamecube and Classic controller.
